In order to address the shortage of staff in all departments, Vasundhara Raje cabinet on Tuesday decided to employ retired employees below the age of 65 on contractual basis.
The decision came during an extended cabinet meeting, presided over by chief minister Vasundhara Raje. Sharing details, senior cabinet minister Rajendra Rathore said, "This provision has been made particularly for technical posts. Retired employees below 65 years can be hired on contract for a year which can be extended for another year."
Accepting the long-time demand from various employees’ associations, the cabinet also decided to exempt employees who have a third child from second marriage from the two-child norm. ‘The Rajasthan Service Rules would be accordingly amended for this.
In case of a remarriage, a government employee already having two children from the previous marriage, will now be allowed to have a third child with the new spouse. Twins or triplets in such remarriages will be counted as one unit,” said Rathore.
The relaxation will be permitted to the serving state employees as well as the new recruitments. The state had adopted the two-child policy in 2001 and implemented it from June 1, 2002.
Rathore said that the government will also amend the Rajasthan Subordinate Court Staff Service Rules for appointment of clerical staff in subordinate courts.
“The appointments would be conducted under the registrar of the Rajasthan High Court or official appointed by the high court,” said Rathore.
“‘The decision for amendment in rules for appointment of clerical staff in subordinate courts was taken following the several complaints of irregularities received earlier,” said Rathore. After the cabinet meeting, Raje in a meeting with council of ministers reviewed work of several departments including health.

proposal on naming a road after him was discussed,” said Rathore.
When asked if the state government was considering prohibition, he said, “It has been found to be impractical before. Not only will it lead to revenue losses but also other problems.'”
