The parking woes at ‘always jam-packed’ Jaipur Railway Station may soon be over.
A multilevel parking at the congested railway station is on the cards.
Worried over the growing pressure of vehicles at the railway station, the North Western Railway (NWR) authorities is planning to have a multilevel parking facility for the passengers.
The NWR has prepared a plan and also invited tenders to start work on the project.
Sources said the work would begin soon to construct a parking lot having a capacity to accommodate 200 vehicles on the other side of the Jaipur Railway Station, near the Metro site.
An official said, “The work would soon begin to construct the multilevel parking to ease the traffic problems at the railway station.”
Some space is lying vacant at the spot which will be used to build the multilevel parking facility, the official said.
It has been felt that the current parking facility at the railway station is not adequate and people have to often park their vehicles near the ‘drive way’. This creates traffic jams at the railway station.
Notably, more than 90 trains pass through Jaipur Railway Station on a single day and many more trains are likely to be added in near future, so this will further add to the pressure of passengers coming to the railway station.
Chaos prevails in and around the railway station because of the increasing pressure of vehicles. The new facility will streamline the parking problem at the station.
Presently, vehicles are parked in the space in front of the railway station as the parking lot remains jam-packed most of time.
