It seems that Rajasthan High Court has decided to start fresh RPMT 2014 exams again as it quashed the results of Rajasthan Pre Medical Test (RPMT) 2014 as illegal, unconstitutional and violative of the constitutional provision of right to equality and favoured the government view of conducting the entrance exam afresh as per the new schedule approved by the Supreme Court.
The court thus dismissed the writ petitions filed by the successful candidates of RPMT 2014 of which results were announced by the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) on June 5 and accepted the plea of unsuccessful candidates for fresh examination.
India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), over six lakh students could take part in the exam on a single set of question paper, why can’t the same be adopted in the RPMT?”, the court asked.
It said the equi percentile formula adopted by the university to adjust the 86 incorrect and out of syllabus questions deleted after the test had created more suspicion in the minds of the students. The number of questions deleted in different batches varied and the university adopted an equi percentile formula as a balancing act. It said the agency which conducted the exam was not even ready to discuss the formula to clear the air of confusion arguing it violates the intellectual property rights. The system adopted by the university could not claim unequivocally that what they have selected are the best.
The court said in such exams with cut throat competition even a minuscule difference in evaluation makes huge difference in the fortunes of the students. The university claims that they had adopted the best system. “We are not experts but even the experts differ on the percentile formula adopted by the university,” the court observed.
