The colorful and folk Kumbhalgarh festival starts with mesmerising presentations of folk artists of Rajasthan. This three day Kumbhalgarh festival begins at Rajsamand district.
The festival started with homage to Rajput ruler Maharana Kumbha, who was an ardent patron of arts and music.
Featuring various attractions like turban tying competition and application of henna, the festival also boasted of sound and light show and cultural performances.
Several foreign and domestic tourists were seen participating in the various competitions.
“Dance forms like Kalbeliya, Lal Aangi Gair, Chakri and Kacchi Ghodi are a major attraction for the tourists,” Harsh Bhatnagar, Additional Director, Tourism department said.
The Kumbhalgarh fort, cradled in the Aravali Ranges, north of Udaipur, is the second most important citadel after Chittorgarh in Mewar region.
Built in 15th century by Rana Kumbha, Kumbhalgarh is now a UNESCO World heritage site and is the birthplace of legendary king Maharana Pratap.
