Each government department’s 11-point programme prepared by cabinet sub-committee will likely to be presented before the cabinet on January 3. This 11 point programme will be implemented in the next 60 days by each govt dept.
Among the departments, food & civil supplies aims to increase the consumer week from 7 days to fortnightly, distribute digital ration cards, create a separate consumer department and strengthen consumer forums in the state. “Our programmes are aimed at providing immediate relief to consumers. These are doable things and we are sure of completing them in given time-frame,” said Hem Singh Bhadana, minister for food and civil supplies.
The petroleum and mines department in their presentation stressed on signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation for bringing a pipeline gas to the state. It will also review the sand mining policy and put its case to increase the number of lease holders to National Green Tribunal. To put a curb on illegal mining, the department will also recruit 5,000 personnel in mines protection force.
The transport department will focus on increasing the number of roadways buses and replace JCTSL buses. The department will also launch services of SMS ticket booking in roadways. “Our first priority is to make the existing transport system effective. Special focus has been made on public transport system in major cities and also broadening the rural services. The process for recruitment of 1,500 conductors and other staff will also be initiated soon,” said an official.
The women and child development department plans to provide free computer training to 5,000 girl students. Opening up of 100 aganvadi centres, upgradation of 100 others and giving entrepreneurship training to 3,500 women are also in their agenda.
A complete report of these programmes will be reviewed by the CM. According to sources, the cabinet meeting, scheduled on Friday, will put a stamp on it after which departments will start implementing it. Ahead of the announcement of code of conduct for general elections in February end, the state government wants to complete most of its promises.
“With coordination of the departments, we have scrutinized those points which are doable and needs immediate attention. We do not want to prepare a roadmap just for the sake of it, but want to ensure that they are manageable and doable in two months’ time,” said Kataria.
A decision in the cabinet sub-committee was also taken on reviewing progress of these programmes after 60 days. “We will again sit after deadline is over and see what achievements have been made. The government is serious about the promises it made to people,” said Kataria.
