The Election Commission has finalised a unique “symbol” for newly created option of “None-of-the-Above”. This option will be embed on the electronic voting machines (EVM) from now onwards in all the forth coming elections. Starting from the coming assembly polls in four states Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram and the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Election commission poll-panel has approved a rectangular symbol for newly created NOTA option. This option will be put in a separate row panel at the end of list of contesting candidate on the ballot paper to be affixed on the balloting unit of the EVM. The depiction will have a rectangle with rounded corners and “NOTA” written in English in it with black background.
“In the case of assembly elections, as the ballot paper is in pink colour, the NOTA will be written in pink colours and in capital letters, and, in the case of parliamentary elections, for which ballot papers are white in colour, the word NOTA will be written in white, in capital letters and in English,” the Election Commission wrote to the chief electoral officers of all the States.
The rectangular depiction will be printed on the last panel of the EVM after the words “None of the Above”. The depiction will remain unchanged in all constituencies irrespective of the language of the ballot paper. But the words “None of the Above” will be printed in the languages in which the ballot papers will be printed.
