UK-based construction and agriculture machinery manufacturer J C Bamford Excavators (JCB) today said its fourth facility in India, entailing Rs 500 crore investment, will be commissioned by April 2014.
The plant being set up by the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary JCB India will roll out components for construction and agriculture equipment.
“We are now ramping up our operations in India. India is very important for our growth. The company is currently building a fourth factory in India, in Jaipur, with an investment of about Rs 500 crore,” JCB Group Chairman Anthony Bamford told PTI here.
Bamford said the first unit of Jaipur plant will start rolling out products by April 2014 and the second unit will be ready in another couple of months.
JCB India has three operational world class manufacturing facilities — one in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, and two in Pune, Maharashtra.
Besides Rs 500 crore, the company has already invested about Rs 350 crore at its backhoe loader plant at Ballabhgarh, which is considered to be the largest backhoe loader factory in the world.
“Despite economic slowdown in 2008, JCB continued to invest in India and it would continue to invest. India is a very important market for us as it is a hub for designing, manufacturing and exports,” Bamford said.
The Indian arm of the company sold about 26,000 units of earth moving and construction equipment in 2012, accounting for about 30 per cent of the global sales.
