To impress upon the electorate in the poll year, the state government will be coming out with a toll-free number where anyone can access records, information, check out progress on complaints/works on ongoing projects, bypassing the entire bureaucracy.
The state government has decided to launch a ‘Citizen Contact Centre’ (CCC) in Jaipur. By calling the Centre’s toll-free number, people can assess services related to twenty departments without having to visit their offices in person.
According to sources, the Centre is being devised as a single platform for redressal of complaints and disbursement of information. The departments which the people can access through this toll-free number are: UDH, Collectorate, medical and health, tourism, transport, commercial tax department, PHED and Home (police).
“For instance, if you are robbed on the outskirts of city, all you have to dial is the toll-free number to the CCC. You would be informed on the location and the contact number of the nearest police station,” an official said.
Similarly, the citizens can register their grievances and check status of their complaints. If you are not happy with sanitation management in your locality, just dial the number and you can lodge a complaint without having to queue up outside the JMC office. Every department linked with the CCC will be appointing anodal officer who would be the link between the caller and the government department. The nodal officer will also follow upon the complaints received at the centre.
The state government has invited bids for the project already. The scheme is expected to be launched by January 17. “The bidder has been asked to select a toll-free number which is accessible from all cellular networks,” an official said.
When asked the need of center, a RajComp Info Service Limited (RISL) official said, “E-services are Internet based and the idea is to make help available to the urban masses. The government feels that telecommunication service that has vast reach as mobiles are available anywhere can be used to provide service at people’s doorstep.
The project is funded by the Union ministry of communication and information technology for five states including Rajasthan.
