Israeli delegation of scientists visit RAJUVAS to setup IVF Lab

During its three-day visit to the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS), Bikaner, an Israeli delegation of scientists studied the university’s functioning for setting up a state of the art In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory in order to preserve and manufacture embryos from the famous indigenous breeds of Rajasthan.

The Israeli delegation, led by Saar Yavin, CEO and chief scientist, was at RAJUVAS for three days  from September 19 to 21.

The Israeli scientists visited the University and find out the possibilities and capabilities to setup an operating lab for the production of cattle embryos. The scientists understood the breed specific requirements of the government and breed specific progeny testing facilities available with the university.

These delegates evaluated pricing strategy /commercials in-line with the state department’s policy and funding to arrive at a short term to long term potential scenario determining infrastructure/equipment capacity, HR requirements and identification of opportunities for self-sustaining positive cash flow.

They also visited the Livestock Research Stations for animal facilities and inspected all records physically for recipients and donors cattle with all relevant/supporting documents of health protocols followed to date.

The team evaluated calf rearing facilities and studied protocols including health care, vaccination, and nutrition and feeding from day zero to six months. They also met with a sample group of diversified farmers on-field for an independent reality check for acceptance of Embryos/Embryo Transfer and modern fertility practices.

Notably, a high level delegation of the Government of Rajasthan in the chairmanship of chief minister Ashok Gehlot had visited Israel on April 28 this year to explore the possibilities of development in the field of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
