Almost after a fortnight since its onset, the south west monsoon gained momentum with mild to moderate showers being witnessed in almost every part of the state except western Rajasthan. Mercury took a dip across the state due to the continued rainfall in the past two days but still Churu remained hottest in the state recorded a maximum temperature of 42.2 degree Celsius.
The Jaipur Met office said mild to moderate showers will continue to lash the south-eastern parts of the state in the next 48 hours. Partly cloudy sky would be witnessed in Jaipur and there is a possibility of mild showers.
On Monday, Jaipurities woke up amidst showers as a rainfall of 7.8 mm was recorded till 8.30 am. The afternoon though was sultry and the city witnessed a maximum tempature of 35.8 degree Celsius accompanied with a humidity of 84%. In the evening, mild to moderate showers were again witnessed as the city witnessed rainfall of 1.7 mm from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm. People in large numbers were seen at the hang out joints including Gaurav towers, MI road, Malls and other places to enjoy the pleasant weather.
Moderate showers were also witnessed in Kota, Jhalwar, Ajmer, Bhilwara and other parts of the state.
Chabra (Baran) received a maximum rainfall of 120 mm and was followed by Mandana (Tonk) 90 mm, Bundi and Rawatbhata (Chittorgarh) 5 mm each, Atru (Baran), Anta (Baran), Tonk and Sangod 40 mm each, Churu 21.8 and Kota recorded a rainfall of 16.4 mm.
In its forecast, the Met office said mild to moderate showers will continue in almost every part of the state except the western Rajasthan like Barmer, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
