Reeling under the hot and humid conditions for the past few days, the recent prediction by the weatherman is bound to bring cheer to residents of the state.

The monsoon, if Met department’s prediction comes true, will hit the state 3-4 days before the scheduled arrival.

Monsoon showers are expected to hit some parts of the state by June 15.

The monsoon normally arrives in the state on June 18. Jaipur met director SS Singh said, “This year, monsoon will enter the state by June 15. The possibility of the monsoon arriving between June 12 and June 14 cannot be ruled out. In any case, the monsoon will reach at least 3-4 days ahead of its schedule.”

The Met department claimed that the upper wind circulation movement has started moving from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea. As a result, monsoon will enter Mumbai in the next 48 hours. The high levels of humidity are helping the monsoon progress at an average speed.

Met department officials, however, don’t see the early monsoon affecting the amount of rainfall.

An official said that the rainfall could be 5% less or 5% more than the average rainfall in the state.

Since the monsoon is expected to remain more or less normal, the Met department is preparing a plan to inform the farmers about weather conditions, so that they could prepare their crops accordingly.

For this, the Met department will work in coordination with the agriculture department.

With the early arrival of monsoon, civic bodies too need to gear up for desilting of drains to prevent waterlogging on the roads.

Meanwhile, isolated places in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Bikaner divisions witnessed light to moderate rainfall on Friday. Railmagra received 5cm rainfall, Rashami 4cm, Mandana and Beggu 3cm while Nimbahera, Khanwas, Chaksu and Sangod received 2cm of rainfall.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in other parts of the state. Churu remained the hottest place in the state at 47 degrees celsius. Parts of Jaipur recorded mid showers but the maximum temperature remained 42.3 degrees celsius with the humidity touching 89%.

The Met department predicts that in Jaipur the sky would remain partly cloudy with possibilities of duststorm, thunderstorm with rain.
