The results of Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) 2013 were declared on Monday, ensuring sure shot admission to all candidates in engineering even before the results were announced.
Since only 60,956 candidates appeared as against 61,346 seats, the exam ended up as just a formality to ascertain the aptitude of aspirants. Ayush Dhakar of Chittorgarh secured first position whereas none of the candidates from Jaipur made it to the top 10 positions.
The results were announced by Board of Technical Education of Rajasthan.
“This exam is just a confidence-building exercise for me as I am not going to take admission in any of the RPET colleges. I am eyeing IITs. I appeared in this exam to test my knowledge,” said Dhakar. The views expressed by state topper indicates the general thinking of other students as well.
The situation has become so worse that the cut-off has touched an all-time low and candidates who wrote nothing in the answersheets will get a call for counseling. Majority of the students have obtained 25%-60% marks in the exam. According to officials, those securing above 0% will be able to secure a seat. Officials claimed that if the bar is raised, most applicants will be left out and colleges will not get students. The most preferable seats among the lot are 4,646 government engineering colleges which has quality faculty and infrastructure. The rest 56,700 seats are in 134 private engineering colleges.
