The mercury continued to soar despite dust storm and mild showers which lashed many parts of the state on Wednesday. Barmer remained hottest at 45.5 degrees, the Met department said.
Jaipur recorded morning temperatures of 27.0 degrees, almost a degree above normal. The afternoon was sultry at 41.5 degrees with a relative humidity of 45%. Despite dust storm and mild showers, the mercury took an upward swing.
Dust storms in Jaipur, Dausa and Alwar affected vehicular traffic. In some localities, it triggered abrupt power cuts and snags in telephone lines.
SS Singh, director of Jaipur metrological office said that the ongoing twists in the weather conditions will continue. “In the next couple of days the mercury will continue to soar,” Singh added.
Barmer was followed by Jaisalmer with a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius, Churu 44.0, Kota 43.7, Chittorgarh 43.5, Bikaner 43.2, Jodhpur 42.9, Sriganganagar 42.6, Udaipur 41.2 and Pilani recorded a maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees.
Meanwhile, Met has forecast mild showers accompanied with dust storm for the northern and eastern parts of state in the next 24 hours.
