Congress’s in-charge for Rajasthan Mukul Wasnik on Monday said the partymen would be free to raise any issue before party vice-president Rahul Gandhi during his stay here on May 15 and 16.
Wasnik along with chief minister Ashok Gehlot, union minister of state for corporate affairs Sachin Pilot and PCC chief Chandrabhan oversaw preparations for Rahul’s visit to Bikaner and Jaipur on Monday. The leaders flew to Bikaner for the purpose and later went around the Jaipur’s Birla Auditorium where Rahul would be addressing Congressmen on May 16.
Union minister of state for rural development Lal Chand Kataria, who presided over the Jaipur rural Congress committee meeting on the visit preparation issue on Monday, told reporters that there was no need for restrictions on speaking for the partymen as meetings with Rahul would be a closed-door affair. “Everyone will be free to speak his mind before the party vice-president. Otherwise also the meetings will be held in closed-door,” Kataria said.
The Congress state unit is, nevertheless, wary of partymen ‘flooding’ the party vice-president with complaints. For the past two years, several Congressmen, including their legislators, have been openly and repeatedly speaking against the state leadership and their ministers at highlighted meetings.
