Fifty seven people have been arrested from around 15 tourist locations in the city, who were allegedly working as touts in the tourism sector, as part of a fortnight-long exercise by the police.
The touts were spotted near tourist places, emporia and hotels. They were found without legal guide licenses, Police Station-Tourist (Jaipur North) SHO Satyapal Singh told PTI.
A special team of cops has been making surveillance at Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Kanak Garden, City Palace, Jaigarh, Choti Chaupar, Jaleb Chowk, and Ajmer road since a fortnight, beginning from July 15, he said.
The accused were working either for emporia houses or tour operators, SHO said, adding that they were arrested for violating security and tourism laws under Rajasthan Tourism Act.
The crime is bailable, but if convicted the guilty has to pay a fine of Rs 3,000 and three months jail for first offence, Singh said
