Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje flagged off an aircraft of Supreme Airlines from Kota, the hub of coaching centers for professional courses. The 45-minute flight in a nine seater plane costs Rs 2499 and would be available on all days except Sunday. Over past one year, flights were started between Jaipur and Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner.

Some airlines have been providing air services between Jodhpur and Udaipur in the past too. That way, Bikaner, and Kota have been brought on the air map for the first time and as Raje said, Swai Madhopur, Kishangarh, Sriganganagar, Bhilwara, and Jaisalmer too will be on it soon.

Raje said the success of intra-state small aircraft services could be gauged from the fact that ten thousand passengers have flown in past ten months. She said providing intra-state air connectivity was essential for promoting business, trade, tourism, and governance.

PK Goyal, principal secretary, civil aviation said, “Rajasthan has road connectivity between its cities but given the distances, there have been always a demand for air connectivity. Big airlines find flying even to popular tourist places like Jaisalmer and Jodhpur not feasible even during peak tourist seasons.”
