Representatives from 66 countries are expected to attend the second edition of Rajasthan’s international textile and apparel fair -‘Vastra-2013’– beginning here from October 3.

Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has provided financial support of Rs 5 crore for organising Vastra:2013 under the Market Access Initiative Scheme, Naveen Mahajan, Managing Director of RIICO and Rajesh Yadav, Commissioner of Industries told a joint press conference here.

This time 202 exhibitors and 421 buyers from 66 countries and 43 Indian buying houses have confirmed their participation in the four-day fair, Mahajan said.

Besides traditional export markets like the US and West Europe, new market buyers from Latin America, Africa, China, Australia and East Europe have also shown keen interest to take part in the fair, Mahajan said.

This was in keeping with the efforts of Indian government in enlarging the export market of Indian textile and making inroad into new markets, he said, adding the apparel target for the current fiscal year has been fixed at USD 17 million.

Yadav said last year Vastra generated business worth USD 61.90 million with the participation of 61 countries and 36 buying houses from India. He said this is proposed to be raised by 20-25 per cent this season.

RIICO and Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) would soon open two training academies in Jaipur and Jodhpur for providing skill to people and labourers, Yadav said.

Automobile, petroleum, and textile industries were coming up in the state of Rajasthan in a massive way after Rajasthan made their separate industrial policies, Yadav said.

Public would be allowed free entry on the last day of Vastra exhibition.
