Tinariwen, Grammy winner to perform at JLF 2014

This years Jaipur Literary Festival will stage-up amazing music artistes both international and Indian. Tinariwen band which has Grammy Award under its belt also perform in JLF 2014 event on final day.

Tinariwen, considered Africa’s most popular band, will be making their debut on the Indian stage with this fest.

Accompanying the band on stage will be Indo-Canadian singer Kiran Ahluwalia, whose jugalbandi with Tinariwen, Mustt Mustt, won last year’s Songlines’ Newcomer of the Year award and the World Music Album of the Year. On January 19, the festival will see contemporary artistes like Karsh Kale, Midival Punditz and God’s Robots coming together to pay homage to their mentor Cheb i Sabbah, the global DJ, composer and musician, who passed away in November last year. Sabbah was the festival’s resident DJ for past seven years.

Bringing in a local flavour will be artistes like percussionists Jaipur Kawa Brass Band and The Kutle Khan Project. Adding a folk touch will be internationally-acclaimed gypsy dancer Colleena Shakti and Queen Harish.
