Recently a decision was made that No gates will be installed in residential colonies without Jaipur Development Authority’s (JDA) nod. The decision was taken in a Traffic Control Board (TCB) meeting on Monday. It was discussed that public representatives and Resident Welfare Association (RWA) have erected the gates arbitrarily, which is causing traffic problems in the city.

The committee will not only approve construction of new gates but will also take up the cases of existing ones. An official said, “The design of the gates will be similar and it will be approved by JDA. Permission will be given after looking at the road’s width. At many places the gates have blocked the roads.

The traffic department has decided to divert the route of private and government buses coming from Delhi and Agra via Govind Marg to control traffic at Narain Singh Circle. These buses will now enter the city through Jawahar Nagar bypass and reach Sindhi Camp via Shanti Path. As there are slums situated along the Jawahar Nagar bypass, they have decided construct a wall like the one at Kathputali Nagar.

Seeing the increase of traffic pressure in Walled City area, it was proposed that the market there be closed on alternate days. The district collector will take a meeting with different market associations to seek suggestions on this matter.
