The Rajasthan University on Monday for the third time extended the last date for generating application forms for postgraduate entrance test till July 2. “The last date for submitting hard copies is July 3,” said Bhupendra Singh Shekhawat, spokesperson for RU. The dates have been extended due to good response from the students. So far, over 13,000 PG entrance forms were generated against roughly 5,000 seats in 38 PG departments and seven centres of excellence. The university is expecting to cross 14,000 forms till the last date.

So far, the trends are surprising with department of mathematics leading with 1,490 forms. Followed by commerce subjects- accountancy and business statistics (ABST) (1,365) and economic administration and financial management (EAFM) (1,343) high on the popularity chart. Science subjects have shown a slight dip with chemistry (1247) and physics (1063) candidates appearing in entrance test against average of 60 seats in each department.

“So far, science subjects are trailing. Chemistry once use to get highest forms is now losing its popularity,” said YK Vijay, convener for PG entrance exam. In humanities, geography has attracted highest number of forms with 1,274 forms followed by History with 1,013 forms.

The poorest response is also from humanities section-visual arts has found only four takers and applied arts only 25.
