Rajasthan High Court directs RPSC to re-announce RAS Main Result

On Monday, Rajasthan High Court ordered the RPSC to re-announce the results of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) main examination on the basis of ‘raw’ marks within a month.

The court of Justice GK Vyas also held the scaling system, employed in preparing the results, invalid. Besides this, the court directed the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to re-conduct the examination afresh with new rules for the additional 106 posts, which were increased after the main examination.

Justice Vyas gave these directions while disposing off a petition challenging increase in number of posts after the main examination, use of scaling method in preparing the results despite government’s decision to discontinue it and non-discloser of raw marks. RPSC is a state government agency for the recruitment of candidates for state administrative and allied services along with employees for various departments.

The state agency had initiated a recruitment process for 289 posts of RAS and 817 posts for allied services through a notification on February 6, 2012 with a condition that any alteration in the number of seats would be made only before the preliminary examination.

But in contravention of this clause, the RPSC increased the number of posts to 360 for RAS and 851 for allied services and that too after the main examination. The petitioner had termed this increase in number of seats post main examination as a move of favouritism.
