A major inter cast marriage incident held in Rajasthan. Rajasthan high court judge Justice Raghvendra Singh Rathore has allegedly put his 30-year-old daughter under house arrest to stop her from marrying her lover Siddharath Mukherjee who is not of her caste.
Rathore’s action has forced Mukherjee to file a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the top court’s intervention to free the girl from illegal detention by her father.
The petition says that Justice Rathore is opposed to marriage between Mukherjee and his daughter. Mukherjee has alleged that Rathore wants his daughter to get married in her own caste who are Rajpoots.
The girl had last month written mails to Supreme court and Rajathan high court judges seeking help. But help came only last week when the apex court admitted Mukherjee’s petition and directed the Jaipur police to produce the girl in court on Monday.
Few years back, Rajasthan High Court had faced severe criticism for calling love marriages as examples of lust and greed. With allegations against Justice Rathore, the higher judiciary has yet again come in the line of fire for fresh attacks.
