Rajasthan got World Bank funds of Rs 1362 crore for roads

Rajasthan state got funded by World Bank of Rs 1362 crore for Road Sector Modernization Project. This road project also includes rural road connectivity programme. In this project 1056 revenue villages having population 250 – 499 (as per census 2001) spreading across 21 districts shall be connected by all weather roads in Rajasthan.

The major components of the projects are road section modernization and performance enhancement – under this component modernization of PWD with steps such as computerization, review of road sector policy, modernization of engineering practices and capacity building of PWD as an Institution will be taken.

Road Safety Management- under this component safe demonstration corridor programme will be done which inter-alia includes construction of a model safe road covering about 100 – 125 kms.
