New MSME Policy For Rajasthan to be announced

The Resurgent Rajasthan partnership summit, which is scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2015, will host a dedicated conclave on MSME: Growth Engine of Make in India - Opportunities & Challenges on the second day of the conference.

Union Minister of MSME Kalraj Mishra will be the Chief Guest for the conclave and the state chief minister Vasundhara Raje will address on the occasion and invite the industry participants to explore the potential of the MSME sector in Rajasthan.

The MSME sector in Rajasthan has grown steadily and now is the largest employer after agriculture. Having recognised the potential of this sector, the State government intends to harness its full potential by making it one of the core sectors that needs investment, said a release.

The session will discuss on topics such as Comparative Advantages of Investing in Rajasthan, Immense Potential of Handicraft Exports from Rajasthan and Access to Finance as well as Access to Marketing.

At present more than 90 per cent of industries in Rajasthan fall within the MSME category, and employ approximately 18.7 lakh people.

The new Rajasthan MSME Policy 2015 will also be launched on the occasion. It has been made with the intent to encourage and boost setting up of micro, small and medium enterprises in the state by creating an enabling and conducive environment for them to attain global competence.

Minister of Industries, Rajasthan, Gajendra Singh Khimsar, who will also speak at the MSME conclave said, Rajasthan is blessed with abundant physical resources, agricultural surplus and entrepreneurial skilled labour. These provide ample opportunities of manufacturing, value-addition and processing activities in the small scale sector, which has been the strength of the State. Some of the main sectors of the MSMEs in the Rajasthan are gems and jewellery, textiles and garments, handicrafts, automobiles, and carpets, minerals and various stone industries and agriculture. These sectors contribute generously to the States economy.

The MSME conclave will be followed up post-lunch by facilitation camps for the MSME delegates. One will be on credit, where all the banks and other financial institutions will give information about the credit schemes and procedures.

The Office of Development commissioner, MSME, in association with Department of Industries, Rajasthan will be organising a vendor development camp in regard to procurement by PSUs, and another camp giving detailed information of the various schemes of MSME and the state government for the MSMEs and their procedures.
