The stage is set for the BJP’s biggest show of strength at Amroodon Ka Bagh, where on Tuesday state president Vasundhara Raje will set the tone for the forthcoming assembly elections in the presence of senior leaders Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi. Just before the party’s announcement on Modi being its prime minister candidate, the Gujarat chief minister is expected to make a lasting impression at the Jaipur rally, which begins at 11 am.

Tuesday will witness one of the largest gatherings in recent times with the state party leaders expecting a turn out of “at least 4 lakhs.” The Tuesday’s rally, designed to be the largest gathering of booth-level workers, would mark the end of the five-month long Suraaj Sankalp Yatra, which had commenced on April 4 at Rajsamand. National president Rajnath Singh had flagged off the yatra then.

For the concluding ceremony, the gathering would be addressed by Raje, Rajnath Singh and chairman of the party’s election campaign committee, Narendra Modi. Eager to encash on the Modi-wave among both the general public and the party workers, the state unit had decided to invite him for the concluding ceremony much before he was named the chairman of the election campaign committee. The party leaders including Raje and Rajnath Singh got a taste of the growing popularity when Modi-chants echoed in the assembly at the launch of the yatra.

On Tuesday, thousands of party workers are expected to participate in the rally, keen to hear Modi speak. “The party workers are all excited to hear Modi and we are sure that motivated by him, they would return back to their booths to work with zeal,” said a senior leader.

The state unit has been preparing for the Tuesday rally for almost a month and the last week has been spent sending invitations. While the rally is targeted at the party workers, it is open for all and the party is expecting a huge turn out of common man too. The party has left no stone unturned to make the event a grand success. Cut-outs of senior BJP leaders have been put up while the venue has been decked up with the party flags and hundreds of hoardings of the BJP leaders. Large LED screens for better viewing and CCTV cameras for security have been put up. Screens and loudspeakers would be put up on the roads surrounding the venue.

While the youth will turn up in similar T-shirts with pictures of Raje, several would be seen wearing Modi-masks and Raje masks. The women members of the party will be seen in red chunris. The party supporters and members have also put up hoardings of the event across the city, decorating the major traffic circles with flags and hoardings. The state unit has identified six entry points to the city where welcome camps along with district camps would be set up for the booth-level workers coming from across the state.
