Saturday could well be the last time that Sachin Tendulkar steps into the Sawai Mansingh Stadium ground for a competitive game of cricket.

Provided of course, Mumbai Indians do reach the semifinals of the Champions League T20 and even if they do, they do not play that game here.

Rajasthan Royals take on Mumbai Indians in the inaugural match of CLT20 and the focus will be on Tendulkar and Royals skipper Rahul Dravid.

Tendulkar has retired from one-day internationals and has said that he will no longer play in the IPL. Jaipur’s application for being declared a Test centre is pending with the BCCI.

“We are aware of the significance of this match,” Rajasthan Cricket Association officiating secretary KK Sharma told TOI on Monday. “It will be a big match here.”

The RCA is mulling having a felicitation programme for the Master Blaster, but then is not sure if one can be arranged on Saturday itself.

RCA president CP Joshi, a Congress strongman from the state, will not be available on the day. The RCA is hoping that Mumbai Indians reach the semifinals and play the match here (on October 4).

If that happens, it will be Tendulkar’s last competitive game here and Joshi will also be available to lead the felicitations.
