Highest online applications recieved by higher education department

Leaving behind other state universities, the department of higher education received the highest 52,000 online applications against 72,000 seats in its 63 government colleges till Saturday.

This year, the department has introduced online application process in its 63 out of 148 colleges.

Though these colleges are affiliated to different state universities, the department of higher education conducts their admission process.

Upbeat over the response, Naveen Jain, director of college education said, “The online system apart from simplifying the process for state students has also attracted students from Delhi, Pune and Mumbai.”

He added that the online system will be implemented in all the colleges from next year.

The website received highest 10,760 applications from Jaipur, while Delhi was close behind with 5,932 application till Saturday evening. students for big cities are preferring government colleges as applicants from Pune and Mumbai registered 1,563 and 1,463 applications, respectively.

The department is expecting to receive around 1.25 lakh applications till the last date of applications. Over 10,000 applications have been received for admissions in second and third year so far.

Meanwhile, in remaining 85 colleges, admissions were carried out through the Common Admission Forms (CAF).
