Dominating Chennai Super Kings became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the Champions League Twenty20 after scoring a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Brisbane Heat in the Group B. The 2013 IPL finalists were in complete control of the match but were humiliated yesterday by Trinidad and Tobago in the final league game.

The loss could dent their confidence as they gear up to face a formidable Rajasthan Royals who will be hosting Dhoni & his men.

Chennai will face Rajasthan Royals on October 4 in Jaipur at the Sawai Mansingh stadium. Some of the key players to be watched for are Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It will be an interesting match to go for as both the team are strong contenders and would battle for victory to get into the finals.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan maintained their spotless record at home for 2013 and have topped in Group A. Some of the key players for Royals are Brad Hodge and the dark horse of the race Rahul Dravid who has been a leader of the squad.

Rajasthan was severely hit in the IPL spot-fixing case and had to lose some of their important players. However, the team has proven that they are still among the best T20 teams the sport has produced.

Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming has said that they would have loved to play Mumbai Indians in the semi-finals of the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2013 after crumbling to an eight-wicket defeat against Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) in their last league game in New Delhi previous night.

The result left Chennai facing the challenge of breaking Rajasthan Royals’ 12-game winning streak at home in the semis.

“Ideally, we would have liked to keep our winning ways and stay here at one place. We would have loved to face Mumbai in the semi-finals but you can’t pick and choose and we are now heading to Rajasthan. They are a pretty formidable side at home and we need to be on top of our game. It’s a good challenge for us,” Fleming said during the post-match press conference.
