28 Sarpanch’s under scanner for fake Certificates

For the Rajasthan Panchayat Polls the state government had brought in an ordinance in December imposing a minimum educational qualification of having passed Class VIII for the post of sarpanch and Class X for zila parishad and panchayat samiti members.

But after the Rajasthan Polls results on february, the Rajasthan police was flooded with complaints against newly-elected sarpanch charging them of filing fake documents.

Around 28 newly elected srpanch are under scanner of Dausa Police for fake Certificates.

So far the Dausa police has apprehended Shiv Kumar Tiwari, owner of a private school Tagore Vidya Mandir and Dhal Chand, his accomplice, who revealed that over 200 fake transfer certificates were issued by the school. The duo confirmed that at least 27 of the 200 forged certificates belong to newly-elected sarpanches.

Dausa SP Anshuman Bhomia said, “We got information that some candidates procured fake certificates following the ordinance. Working on tip-offs, we managed to zero in on several defaulting candidates and through them reached this school in Bandikui that has furnished 200 fake transfer certificates. Since the candidates did not want to get into the formality of showing board exam mark-sheet, they simply procured fake transfer certificates showing that they were schooled at Tagore Vidya Mandir till Class VIII, thereby validating their candidature.” He said there are 14 other suspected schools and investigation is on.

Bhomia said that each fake certificate was issued at a cost of Rs 10,000, The fake certificates were procured by candidates from all over the state and according to initial investigation, it appears that the forged certificates issued from Tagore Vidya Mandir School.
