Rajasthan’s fast emerging industrial region in Alwar — Ghilot industrial area — with a dedicated zone for South Korean companies and a second Japanese zone close to Neemrana, would be open soon.

“The new industrial area, Ghilot, is going to be opened soon as the area has got environment clearance and other hurdles are also cleared. The 1,700-acre industrial area will have a dedicated zone for South Korean companies besides a Japanese zone,” Naveen Mahajan, MD Rajasthan state Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), said.

Buoyed by the success of the first Japanese zone in Neemrana where many units have started functioning and remaining are at the advance stage of opening, the second Japanese zone was proposed in Ghilot where a ceramic hub will also come up, he said.

Mahajan, speaking at ‘Infra Conclave Rajasthan- 2013’ organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), informed that a full fledged ceramic hub will also come up in Ghilot and the RIICO will shortly sign an MoU with GAIL for gas supply in the area.

Stressing over the need to groom young talent, the officer informed that the RIICO will on Monday sign an MoU with IIM Ahemdabad for promoting an incubation centre in Sitapura in the city where the IIM experts will groom budding talent.

The tie up with the IIM will be for three years initially, he said.

Highlighting the prospects of investment in the state with the policy framework of the state government, Additional Chief Secretary (UDH) G S Sandhu said that the state government has prepared master plan of urban towns so as to bring clarity for planning and investment.

Sandhu said that the state capital with a growth rate of 4-5 per cent is one of the fast emerging and growing cities in the country.

He said that the government took a major decision for introducing Metro rail in Jaipur despite the fact that city as per the current size of population does not require such big project. Sandhu said that it was a major initiative to improve public transport system.

“For a town of the population of around 34 lakh, such project is unthinkable but the government thought for future so the Metro rail project was undertaken three years back. We would be able to conduct trials of the Metro rail in August and thereafter commercial operation will begin,” he said.

“A tunnel project was made in Jaipur on PPP mode and was successfully operationalised. Besides, a ring-road project is another ambitious project in Jaipur on PPP mode. The state capital Jaipur is also going to be enlisted in UNESCO Creative City Network for which we have finalised our proposal,” he said, adding that apart from such factors, some legislation are in the offing.

In plenary sessions, integrated industrial townships and urban infrastructure were discussed by experts. Ratnesh P Kashyap, Chairman CII Rajasthan and other industrialists and officers were present in the conclave.
